There is no such thing as a random shooting

Someone gave a message today about violence. One of things they talked about was random shootings.

The problem is that there is no such thing. The shooter had a gun on purpose. The shooter has bullets on purpose. The shooter out bullets in the gun on purpose. And the shooter pulled the trigger on purpose.

Sure, there’s the rare time someone shoots themselves by accident, like Plaxico Burress, but again, he had a loaded gun in his waistband and that’s an occupational hazard of carrying a deadly weapon.

And, of course, some people shoot themselves on purpose. In a country where we sometimes have a shooting every ten minutes, we are awash in guns, and therefore awash in gun violence. Regardless of who does what kind of shooting, the one thing in common is a gun. It’s simple, the more guns around, the more shootings. Simple as that.
